Elden Ring is one of my favourite games ever, so a new multiplayer focused title using many of the same systems should be an easy layup, right? Unfortunately, some surprising issues make the generally fun experience a lot more frustrating than it needs to be.

Before and after release this is a game that had a lot of buzz. I was pretty skeptical, even resistant to buying into the hype, but despite a few rough edges, this game has me completely enamoured. 

Sometimes when I'm struck by a feeling of sadness or regret I think of and rewatch a favorite film of mine. It's something that can bring a sense of comfort and familiarity. But it's also a way to reflect on and recognize what these films mean to me personally.

Genre for games has gotten pretty out of hand. For the most part, I pay it no mind, but when it comes to the term JRPG, Japanese Role-Playing Game, I’ve got some issues. 

The Zero Escape and Danganronpa series are both top notch in my book, so when a new visual novel tactics game was released with both creators serving as directors, I had pretty high expectations. Somehow, this game managed to exceed them. 

Blue Prince is a puzzle roguelike game that was released to critical acclaim on April 10th, 2025. This wasn’t a game on my radar, but for many critics it was this year’s first must-play game.

The Switch is the second-highest selling Nintendo console, but after the Switch 2 Direct, I’m not quite sure the Switch 2 will surpass it. These may not be burning hot takes, but I have plenty of thoughts. 

A series near and dear to my heart, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, got a brand new mobile game titled Madoka Magica Magia Exedra. It’s certainly a mouthful, but is it any good? 

I usually let myself pick up two new games a month, some months that’s an easy decision. Sometimes, that decision is a lot harder. 

In the first 3 days since launch over 8 million copies have been sold, so does it live up to such an achievement?

Every once in a while, you watch a show that just feels so inspired, so new, and yet so well executed. Pantheon is that show, and you should go watch it, like right now. 

Despite just passing the 10 year anniversary it seems like the original version of Bloodborne might be all we get.

A beloved game of my childhood, Phantom Brave, that I finally finished just last year, got a surprising sequel 20 years later.

The start of this year has been pretty slow, so I finally got around to last year’s Persona 3 Reload. I feel like this game has some weird thoughts about gender.

This year, more than others, feels like a bit of a question mark in terms of the games industry. Beyond April, we really don’t have many confirmed releases, and while not unusual, I feel like there’s more things up in the air. 

Once again, it’s time to rank my top 10 anime of the year. Unlike last year, I had a bit of a harder time, there seemed to be less surprises this year.

Much like last year, this was another pretty great year for games, far too many to play them all! Of the ones I did get to play, there were a few that really stood out.

After 3 years of waiting, the second and final season of Arcane came out, and it’s fantastic. It seems like everyone can agree this is one of the best video game adaptations out there.

Technology has always been a useful, if not often revolutionary tool. It allows us to connect with people all over the world, get information in real time, and sometimes endlessly refresh an ongoing election while draining all our energy. 

Atlus’ latest project, and newest IP since the first Persona game, Metaphor: ReFantazio, seems to be yet another masterpiece.
